So I have recently signed up for the Marine Corp Marathon on Oct 31st, 2010 in Arlington, VA. This will be my second marathon ever! I ran the Chicago Marathon back in 2008. So already having my rookie run under my belt, I thought I'd make this one a bit more challenging. I thought about training hard and making a really great time. (Chicago was 4hours 55min!) This would be such a great time to really push myself and do well in this marathon. I have never really been a runner per say. I actually run a consist 10 min mile no matter what kind of shape I'm in. I guess that pace is my neutral gear, and I enjoy that pace. So I thought I'd go for this dream...to run a fast marathon!
But then a month ago I got an email with the MCM newsletter At the bottom of this newsletter it talked about running for charities. So of course I clicked the link that took me to the list of charities that are all involved with this marathon. Wow what a site to see so many wonderful causes that people have chosen to run for. Then I saw it...Make-A-Wish Foundation. And it just clicked! This marathon would be my time to help someone else, I would run this marathon for Charity.
Reading over the Make-A-Wish Foundation's website, the stories just floored me. I was so moved by these young children who were able to live out their dreams in spite of their insurmountable obstacles. It made me take a long look at what I am doing with my life and the chances that I get presented to me everyday. I just know I can make a difference in a young child's life, and I hope you will help me too!
For this first blog, I hope any and all of you that read this will answer this one question for me. What is your biggest wish or dream for your life? Have you accomplished that yet? Or are you still dreaming? If so, please leave a comment and tell me about your wish.
I live my wish everyday. I am marrying the man of my dreams, have a wonderfully supportive family, and a business that I truly LOVE. I do have one wishe that I have not finished yet. To make a difference in the lives of others. This is my new wish, and my new journey and I hope you all follow along.:)
Thanks,
Carrie

ReplyDeleteYou run Carrie! I would have to take pictures...running is soooooo boring. I'm glad you have a cause and a dream! Everyone does, even my Derek! And he has already made a huge difference in the lives of others--especially mine. I hope I have for him :)
