So today I was out running for about 50 min. I did have to stop b/c the one leg was getting a bit tight, and stretch it out. I'm trying to get these IT bands to not act up for this marathon and have it go smoothly. I'm horribly inflexible, so that poses a problem when it comes to long running. My hamstrings pull on my butt muscles, which in turn pull on my lower back. So needless to say, it doesn't feel well! But I'm gonna make it. I have realized that I have this deep burning to always accomplish something. To prove that I can do it, and that I do have what it takes. I believe I developed this type of attitude from my father. While growing up I was always told that I was better, or that I could make it, or that I can be the best. This made me dig deep and strive to push myself to the best of my abilities.
This road is not an easy road. It's not traveled by everyone. You really have to look deep inside and pull on a part of your heart and say "I will not stop, I will make this work". You can apply this thinking in a variety of ways in your life. It doesn't have to just be towards sports or physical exercise. If you want to play the piano, tell yourself that you do have what it takes to be great, and you won't give up until you make it. I believe all of the good things in your life don't just come from talent, it has to come from heart. If you don't have the heart to back up your dreams, ultimately you won't make it. You have to want it, thrive on it, and your life needs to feed on it. Once you find that inner voice that says "Keep going, you can do it" You really can do anything. I hope that voice continues to tell me that I can make it, and push me to be what God intended me to be.
As I think about the charity that I'm running for, I do believe the children that the Make-A-Wish foundation helps have that inner attitude. They know they can do anything they want, and they will thrive to get it. I know my running will help some of these children, but I can't do it alone. Please, if you are a consistent follower of my blog, take the time to read about the Make-A-Wish foundation. Read the stories of the wishes, and ultimately pledge to help. Even the smallest donation will help these children reach their dreams. Help be their inner voice. You can donate here http://www.midatlantic-community.org/carrierunsforwishes
